Join Tally Ho and the Share Club on a special treat to see the INTERNATIONAL MILITARY TATTOO held once a year in Norfolk, Virginia.  After leaving the Inverness area, you will spend one night enroute in Florence, SC  (Wingate Inn)before arriving at your hotel (Holiday Inn Select) in Norfolk, VA.   After checking in at the hotel, you wil have a welcome tour of Norfolk before dinner at JOE'S CRAB SHACK.

Join Tally Ho, The Share Club and Globus Vacations for an eleven (11) day tour of a "Traveler's Favorite" - GERMAN HIGHLIGHTS. (I did this same tour a few years ago and it was wonderful)

You start this exceptional tour in Frankfurt where you join your traveling companions with a welcome dinner. After a good nights rest, a special treat awaits you - a Rhine River Cruise!  After disembarking, you will see the famous Remagen Bridge (of WWII fame) and then on to Cologne and visit its famous gothic cathederal.  

After spending the night in Cologne, you leave for Berlin.  A local guide will cover all the highlights of this famous city (including Checkpoint Charlie).  You have the next day at leisure in Berlin.   May I suggest a trip to the "KaDeWe" Department Store and a visit to the 6th floor for its most unbelieveable delicatessen.  Every item imaginable is there and then some.

TALLY HO'S GREAT SMOKEY MOUNTAIN BLAST

JULY 16 - 20, 2012

 

Join Tally Ho on a 5 day trip to the Great Smokey Mountains.  After a rest break in Valdosta, Ga and a lunch stop (on your own) near Macon, Ga, you will arrive late afternoon in Chattnooga, TN for an overnight stay at the Wingate Hotel. 

The next morning, after breakfast at the hotel, you will  arrive in Pigeon Forge, TN where you will visit the TITANIC MUSEUM in the morning and in the afternoon you will experience a true live Country Music Variety Show.  After the show you will check into the Music Road Hotel for a 3 night stay.  Tonight you will enjoy a dinner and show at the famous DIXIE STAMPEDE, voted  the "Best Live Country Show in America" 

Today, you will have a guided drive tour of the GREAT SMOKEY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK.  You will enjoy our local step-on guide's narrated points of interest  and history  throughout the tour.  This afternoon you will have time for lunch on your own and shopping opportunity in  Gatlinburg.  You will return to your hotel for a little R&R before leaving to see THE COMEDY BARN VARIETY SHOW (this  award winning family comedy show will have you rolling  in the aisles with laughter).   After the show, you will return to the hotel and your eveing is free.

SPAIN'S CLASSICS

OCTOBER 27 - NOVEMBER 6, 2012

 

Join Tally Ho Vacations and Collette Vacations for this special tour of Spain.  Your tour begins this morning in Madrid with a locally guided tour of the city's historic center and a guided tour of the monumental, 18th century Royal Palace.  This afternoon travel to Toledo, A UNESCO site  and the capital of medieval Spain until 1560.  A comprehensive tour highlights the magnificent Gothic cathedral and the 13th century synagogue. a testament to Toledo's Jewish heritage.  You'll return to Madrid for dinner on your own.

Leaving Madrid, you'll travel to the Moorish city of Cordoba and embark on a walking tour of the Mezquita (a UNESCO site built by the Moors in the 8th century) and continue your exploration of Cordoba in the city's well-preserved and historical old Jewish Quarter.  Later you leave for Seville.

Known as Spain's "cultural capital", Seville is a beautiful city.   You will see Columbus's tomb, the ornate cathedral (a UNESCO site) and Giralda Bell Tower.  Enjoy a walking tour of the quaint old Santa Cruz Quarter with its bright flowers, white-washed buildings and winding streets.  A must see is the beautiful Maria Luisa Park, one of the loveliest in all Europe.  A local flamenco dancer joins you for a typical "tapas lunch".  This evening you have reserved seats for an authentic flamenco show.

Today, you travel along the peaceful Sierra Nevada to Granada where you will join a local expert for a tour of the world-famous Alhambra (an immense hilltop palace that is a UNESCO site).  Also tour the Generalife (garden of the architect) , with its  breautiful  waterfalls, courtyards and smaller secret gardens.  I (Bea Hunn) have been  to this site and it is truly breathtaking.   You won't be disappointed.

You leave Granada and travel  through rolling hills dotted with olive groves en route to the Mediterranean coast.  Arrive in the city of Valencia.  Surrounded by citrus groves, it is a treasure trove of Roman and Arabic architecure. After an included dinner and a good nights rest, you will have a city tour of historic Valencia, including a stop at Lonja, the old Silk Exchange, one of the most beautiful buildings ofEuropean civil Gothic architecture.   Later, visit Llardo-City of Porcelain and learn the history of the world-famous, hand-made Llardo figurines.  The rest of your day is at leisure.

Before leaving Valencia, you begin your day with a visit to the Museum of Las Fallas where you will see figurines from the last 80 years of the Las Fallas festival.  Later, you will travel to Barcelona, one of Europe's most beautiful and exciting cities.

Today, get an in-depth look at vibrant and lively Barcelona with a locally guided tour that includes all the most famouns and "must sees" of this remarkable city.  This afternoon  you have free time to explore on your own.  Tonight, we gather for a farewell dinner celebrating the end of your wonderful trip to Spain.

                                                              UNCLAIMED BAGGAGE, 

CHATTANOOGA & ATLANTA

APRIL 10-14, 2012

 

 

This is a fun and unusual trip!  You will leave early in the morning and lunch and dinner will be on your own.  Overnight at the  "DELTA QUEEN RIVERBOAT HOTEL", moored in Chattanooga, TN. where you will stay for three nights.  (Guests will have to climb some stairs to board the boat/hotel.)

After a nights rest and breakfast, depart for Scottsboro, AL and spend the day at "UNCLAIMED BAGGAGE" - the only place in the country that sells unclaimed baggage.  In this square-block center you'll find clothing, jewelry, luggage, electronics, computers, cameras, sporting goods and other oddities that travelers have taken with them.  Wear comfortable shoes!  Lunch on your own. 

Departure from Scottsboro will be in mid-afternoon to return to our hotel in Chattanooga.  This evening enjoy dinner and a river cruise on the "SOUTHERN BELLE RIVERBOAT".

After breakfast this morning. there will be a guided tour of your hotel - THE DELTA QUEEN.  This  grand lady has logged over two million miles, carried over half a million passengers and is the only boat to be inducted into the National Marine Hall of Fame while still in service.  When the tour is completed, travel to nearby LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, visit RUBY FALLS and ride the famous INCLINE RAILWAY.  Lunch on your own.   After returning to your hotel for a brief rest, there will be  an evening of entertainment and fun as you dine at the STATION HOUSE at the Chattanooga Choo Choo complex.  There will be time to explore the shops and gardens in this once-busy railway station.

On Friday, you'll head for Atlanta.  After lunch on your own, there will be a guided tour of CNN (a 55 minjute walking tour with stairs) and visit the new location of the WORLD OF COKE.  Dinner will be at "MARY MAC'S TEA ROOM", famous for its southern cooking.  Your hotel tonight will be the HOLIDAY INN NORTHLAKE.

After a hot, buffet breakfast at the hotel, it's time to depart for home.  Lunch is on your own. 

NOTE: There will be a lot of walking and some stairs on this trip!

Join Tally Ho Vacations and Trafalgar Tours for a fascinating tour of two of South America's beautiful countries.  After an overnight flight, you'll arrive in Buenos Aires, Argentina on day two and spend five nights in this exciting city.  Join your Tour Director and fellow travelers at 6 p.m. for a Welcome Reception at the hotel, followed by a presentation by a Local Expert on the local passions  and tradtions of the Argentinean people - Melbec wine, tango, beef, soccer, etc.

On day three, you'll embark on an in-depth tour of this passionate city where the tango was born.  See the famous sights such as Plaza de Mayo;  Casa Rosada; Teatro Colon (where some of the world's great opera singers performed) and the colorful neighborhood of La Boca plus much more.  Drive along stately Avenida 9 de Julio, said to be the widest street in the world then on to the famous Recoleta Cemetary where Eva Peron (Evita) is burried.  Tonight you will be the guests of a local family and enjoy dinner and wine.  

On the morning of day 4, you'll cross the wide Rio de la Plata by hydrofoil.  On the Uruguayan side, immerse yourself in in the charm of colonial Colonia del Sacramento  You will walk through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed historical district.  After your tour, enjoy a leisurely lunch at a local restaurant.  There will be time to stroll around the area and enjoy a cappuccino at a sidewalk cafe before you board the hydrofoil and cross the river back to Argentina. 

Day 5 is your chance to relish a day at leisure in Buenos Aires.  An optional excursion(which I highlly recommend -I've taken it twice)  to spend the day at a traditional Argentine estancia (ranch) where you will see an equestrian show, then enjoy asumptuous barbeque lunch (the food is outstanding).  You are in for a wonderful treat this evening.  First, there is dinner where you have the chance to taste the world-renowned Argentinean beef!  Cap off the evening watching the best tango dancers in Buenos Aires.  This is a night you'll long remember.

On Day 6, fly across the pampas to the edge of the Andes and the resort town of San Carlos de Bariloche where you'll spend two nights..  Enjoy the afternoon at leisure to explore the town on your own.   Dinner is at your hotel.

On Day 7, discover the natural wonders of one of the prettiest areas in Argentina, known as the "Switzerland of South America".  View the spectacular sights of beautiful lakes, lush forests and breath the fresh alpine air.  Visit a beach,  take a chair lift ride to view the Lake Distict and snow-capped Andes.  Back in town, a visit to the Chocolate Museum is a must and you  can sample an array of chocolate treats.  The rest of the day is at leasure in Bariloche.

Day 8 is guaranteed to be the highlight of your South American tour as you travel through some of the most stunning landscapes, jounrying by land and water from Argentina to Chile.  You are in store to view some of the most amazing scenery in South America.  Spend two nights in Puerto Varas, Chile and check into your lakefront hotel and relax over a light dinner at the hotel.

Day 9, On a Chiloe Island Patagonia excursion, you'll have a guided tour of the island and enjoy a seafood lunch.  Then, depending on the weather conditions, you may have the chance to visit penguin colonies located on tiny, barren islands.  This afternoon, return to Puerto Varas.

On Day10, you'll bid farewell to Puerto Varas and fly north from Puerto Montt to the Chilian Capital of Santiagoto. A visit to the Maipo Valley, Chile's famed wine-producing valley known for its premium wines.  You'll visit an exclusive winery where you'll meet the Expert Winemaker for a tour starting from the vineyards to the bottling process and of course, wine tasting.  Lunch will be served alfresco on the beautiful grounds.  After lunch, return to Santiago for an orientation tour of this vibrant city. This evening spend your time at leisure to shop in upscale botiques and restaurants.

Day 11 will be free time in Santiago.  If you're feeling adventurous,  an optional tour to Valparaiso, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the seaside resort of  Vina del Mar are available.  Tonight you'll gather for a festive Farewell Dinner and a folklore show complete with dancers in colourful ethnic costumes.
